The company’s founder, Woodrow W. Clark II MA3, PhD was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 for his work on the UN Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change over 12 years. Through Clark Strategic Partners, Dr. Clark educates global leaders on how to solve the problems of climate change through the creation of sustainable infrastructures and agile energy systems in local and regional communities.
The Major Paradigm Change
The Third Industrial Revolution (3IR) is an important theme in Clark’s peer reviewed published work and his talks given all over the world. The concept, derived and outlined in Jeremy Rifkin’s The European Dream (2006) explains how the European Union (EU) has moved from The Second Industrial Revolution of fossil fuels and mechanical engines and technologies into The Third Industrial Revolution of renewable energy, storage devices and smart grids. Clark takes this paradigm shift a bit further by including Japan and S. Korea. Asia and the EU have been in the 3IR since the early 1990s --- over 2 decades –- while the USA has yet to understand and embrace these concepts.
The result is that the USA is now getting further and further behind the rest of the developed western world. And while the USA is now the number two world emitter of air pollution, China which now has the distinction of being number one, has started to “leap frog” into the 3IR. The evidence is growing. And the results are a role model for the USA. Starting with five year plans that outline what the central government will do and not do over a long term (giving both the public and private sectors a “road map” on which to plan and execute their programs) along the financial resources to achieve these goals on a national level while empowering the local regions and cities.
The Call to Action
The need for the USA to be educated and partnered with global leaders in the EU and Asia has become paramount given the global recession and the need to convert the world into a sustainable planet. Future generations, especially infants and in their pre-teens, need the older “baby boomer” generation to take aggressive action today. There is no time to waste and speculate in the years 2020 or beyond. The time to act is now!! And results can be seen within a few months and years!!
